I own a 2005 Xterra SE, and when I bought it, the radio didn’t work. Upon further inspection, I found out the fuse keeps blowing (pull out the old one, put in the new one and boom, it’s blown). Not sure what the issue is, unplugged the radio and put new fuse in, doesn’t blow until I plug the radio back in. Bought a new radio and wanting to put it in, but I’m afraid I will lose the steering wheel controls. Any ideas of what to do?

You have a short to ground, if the radio fuse only pops when the radio get plugged in, I'd wager to say the short is internal to the radio or in the radio connector.

Edit: With the new radio, you'll need an adapter to maintain steering wheel controls. The most common one used for 2nd gens is:

Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Interface

But please verify before ordering.
