Ok. So I have a manual xterra just hit 290,000 miles and this week it's had a myriad of weird symptoms. 1 day it runs great all day. Next day it starts up misfiring then will come and go. Today it idles and revs fine till about 3k rpms it gets all choked up and I'm really confused as to the behavior of this truck.
Spark plugs and coils replaced 1000 miles ago. Has no egr system. Cleaned maf sensor and checked for vacuum leaks. Any suggestions?

Could be the distributor starting to fail. You could take the cap off and check for play in the distributor shaft or metal shavings or rust, which could indicate a failing shaft bearing, or oil, which would indicate a bad internal shaft seal. Could also be a leaking fuel injector or bad valve seal allowing gas or oil into the combustion chamber when it sits.

Hey so the funniest shit just happened on my way to Publix. Car Started to lose power and died in the parking lot. Now when I turn the ignition on I don't hear the usual low pitch Humm from the fuel pump. So I'm suspecting it pooped itself so I'll update once I pull it out. It's just confusing sometimes because the truck Is near 300k and everything is original except the usual tires brakes oil filter ect. Thanks for responding 😀

Now my Xterra will idle fine but won't go past 3k rpms. It will run for about 5 minutes die and then won't turn back on only runs when cold. Any ideas? Distributor looks good and just replaced fuel filter and fuel pump before messing with it again.

I suspect very strongly it is the distributor. Two options: Rebuild it if it is a genuine Nissan (made by Hitachi) distributor. Or replace it with a new Hitachi distributor (about $300). The aftermarket ones ($80 or so) are known to fail in a year or so. If your failed distributor is genuine Nissan then save it and rebuild it when you have time. Be sure to follow the FSM instructions when you reset the timing. Clean up the TPS sensor contacts before reconnecting it.

Check for a bad catalytic converter.
