I know I can find the serp belt cheaper online. Our local auto parts store has a Dayco belt for $51.00, I think that`s pretty high compared to what I`ve seen online...

I'm pretty sure the factory belt was only $20 from the dealer...

I replaced mine at last July when I replaced the alternator (not because it was bad, but because I had to take it off any way. It's one of the simplest things you can do. All you need is a 3/8" drive ratchet. There is a how-to I did on it.

The first one started to squeel pretty bad due to (I believe) dust getting imbedded into the belt. Went with another OEM from the dealer and no problems so far. Probably have 8-10K on the new belt.
Yeah, the original belt (still on) squeels when humid, or raining, or when they put to much damn salt on the roads...and when it`s really cold... once the truck gets hot enough under the hood it quiets down...
I just purchased the OEM belt from the local dealer here for $15.XX. At least I have it in my hands to instal later.
What kind of mileage are you guys gettin out of a belt??? Thanks...PR...
My 1st belt started at like 1000 miles. On and off until about 8K miles they changed just the belt on the TSB and gave me old belt for a spare, that was 18K miles ago? Still good no squeak. I like the Gator belts, when they make one I'll put it on if I have problems but factory belt is a deal. MC
I still have warranty and have heard that maybe there was a tsb for the belt and tensioner. Only thing I can say to that is that I don`t have to lay up the truck and it`s quicker and more convenient to do it myself...PR...
The dealer replaced both my tensioner and belt per the TSB. Before the TSB came out, I had them replace the belt only, but it just started squealing again after a few thousand miles.

It took changing the tensioner to solve the problem.

If your X is still under warranty, I'd have the dealer replace both.

well I just changed out the belt at 31582 miles... so we`ll see how soon the squeek comes back... I won`t let the stealership touch my truck unless it`s something major and they even F` that up...

most of them couldn`t make a cheese sandwhich if i spotted them the cheese and the bread...PR...
