Got the X back, on my way to Ouray tomorrow am. @VMBiohazard was just the rear diff. I'd climb under there and sniff yours to see if it is the front/rear. I noticed a lot of the smell has absorbed itself onto my gear in the back, so even though the leak is gone, the smell is still kind of there...

Don't do it, you'll just be back in the same spot in a couple months. The Moogs springs suck. Do the OEM Toyota FJ springs (either two driver or two passenger springs) and try the shocks Glamisdude said were better valved if you find the 5100's are not getting the job done.

So crawled underneath. The smell is coming from the rear diff, looks like the RTV didn't seal perfectly. I also noticed a bit of sweat on the input shaft for the front diff and the output from the tranny (pictures below). No pics of the rear diff, I bailed because of the dark clouds lol. I...

Will be rolling into Golden just outside Denver tomorrow evening (5th). If any locals happen to read this let me know if you want to meet for dinner or something.

The mod is for stock fj springs. I just looked at the toytec site and all their coil springs are either Eibach or OME and they are all lift springs so that won't work.

I had no issues with it. I sold my Corvette and decided to spring for the Radflos. If you are running the Moog springs try switching to the FJ ones. Also there are other options for tundra shocks.

I'm no longer running that setup, I have 2.5" radflos now. Here is the only image I have of them mounted and some diagrams to help. I have them assembled in my storage unit but I am out of town for the next month.

Well at least you got it narrowed down. Please post the results of this as you get them. Definitely a unique issue.

Slightly more detailed update....this no edit thing is really really annoying! Sept. 2nd to 5th: Make way to Ouray, CO, via Denver, CO. Sept. 5th - 8th/9th: Ouray area -> Alpine Loop from Engineer Pass to Cinnamon Pass Sept. 9th/10th: Imogene Pass to Telluride, ride to Moab. Sept. 10th-13th...

If you have the listed build software that can be upgraded, download it and unzip. If you leave all the contents in the folder and drag that over to a USB drive the system won't recognize it. I had the same issue. I dragged the items inside the folder to the USB drive directly and it worked. I...

    Rugged Rocks Off Road
Couple more things to try out apart from double checking all the soldered or crimped terminals etc and your grounds (clean contacts etc): 1a. Hook the charge cable back up like you had it, but disconnect the power cable on the alternator side. If one of the diodes or something in the...

The voltage is perfect, don't worry about it....no really let it go lol! The flickering looks like you have a short. Something is sending power to your vehicle while off so perhaps contacts are touching or something or there is a bad ground somewhere? I'd take everything off and re-install...

Since we still can't edit our own post for some dumb reason, here is the update on the schedule: Newest breakdown: Weekend of Aug 30-Sept 1st: My club's annual meet in Southern Ontario. 1st week: Drive to Ouray, Colorado. Hit trails and such on the way. Weekend of Sept 6-8th: Imogene Pass...

It's no bother at all. After chatting with IM1RU it's better to try and get out to Ouray early because the snow comes in September, so I'm now aiming to do the Alpine Loop and Imogene Pass by the end of the weekend of the 6th. We can easily meet in Moab afterwards and do a couple trails in the...

No instagram sorry :( I'll post updates when I can and you can always ask me questions if you have any I'm still going to be in Colorado that week as of right now. I guess I could bomb all the way to Moab and do Colorado after. I was hoping to do the Imogene pass the second weekend (13-15th) so...

You can get just the OME 2607 med. duty springs for sure. For the money to put them on though (if you don't have the means or desire to do the work) I would just get the full strut+spring replacement. They are approximately $180 at full retail for just the springs.

The ones I went with are 2010 FJ 4WD left side for 104$ and change, part number 4813135670 These are the 636lb springs. The passenger's side (right) are the 616lb ones. In the future search the thread via google example: "site:thenewx.org fj springs" or similar.
