  1. Do I need a New Thermostat?

    Powertrain & Driveline
Just a clarification, I was mistaken when I stated in my post above that the top of the radiator being warm indicates the thermostat being stuck open. Even after I replaced the thermostat, the top of the radiator still got warm relatively quickly, before the coolant temps ever got near the range...
  2. Do I need a New Thermostat?

    Powertrain & Driveline
As an update and FYI for future people reading this thread, I've determined my thermostat is indeed broken and stuck in the open position, allowing coolant to constantly flow freely through the engine and to the radiator without reaching the optimal temperature. I was able to determine this...
  3. Do I need a New Thermostat?

    Powertrain & Driveline
Yea definitely going OEM, any advice on gaskets? I wanted to get the Stant gasket that comes with one side sticky, so I could place it easily, but it has some bad reviews. Looking at the Beck/Arnley one now.
  4. Do I need a New Thermostat?

    Powertrain & Driveline
Yea I’m definitely glad my temps are running low and not high, so the engine will be fine but I’ll lose some mpgs/performance, as it will take more effort for the engine to reach operating temps if the thermostat is stuck open. I was just doing a coolant flush so I didn’t have anything...
  5. Do I need a New Thermostat?

    Powertrain & Driveline
Recently my service engine light came on and the P0128 code was read. Based on my research I understand this normally means that the thermostat has failed, and usually in the open position. However, in my situation specifically, the light came on right in the middle of performing a coolant...
  6. How-to: Install GPS Stereo Head Unit and Backup Camera

    How-to's
Gotcha, thanks for checking! If I figure out how to get those speakers working I will be sure to post a reply here.
  7. Best Way to do a COMPLETE Coolant Flush?

    Powertrain & Driveline
Ah okay, I feel better knowing the silicate coolant I used isn't "too bad". I think I will do the full system flush however, as I don't think the previous owner ever did, and there is a good bit of gray/blackish gunk in the system that always ends up sitting on top of the coolant in the...
  8. Best Way to do a COMPLETE Coolant Flush?

    Powertrain & Driveline
Ahhh okay, I understand now. I had read about flushing previously but did not make the connection that I am also flushing out the engine/heater core in doing so. And then I just add some concentrated coolant to even out the ratio to 50/50 with the distilled water left in the engine/heater core...
  9. Best Way to do a COMPLETE Coolant Flush?

    Powertrain & Driveline
I recently discovered that I’ve been using the wrong type of coolant (the green kind containing silicates) and I need to do a complete coolant flush, meaning getting ALL of the coolant out of the system, including the engine block and heater core. In researching the subject, I’ve learned the...
  10. How-to: Better, Beefier Rear Tie Downs, (You Need to Do This!)

    Interior
For anyone in the future reading through this thread, if you decide to also add the "lower" tie downs, meaning the ones placed beneath the others that replaced the original crappy plastic ones, just know that the sheet metal behind the plastic curves in sooner than the plastic would lead you to...
  11. What Part is This and / or Where can I get One?

    General Xterra
Some more googling and I found the part! Here it is. Thank you for pointing me to that mod, I may just do that anyways, but I’ll also just buy this part for now, seeing how cheap it is.
  12. What Part is This and / or Where can I get One?

    General Xterra
Just realized my X is missing this on the right side, see picture. Wondering where I can get a replacement, as it’s very obscure and I’m not sure what to search for. Thanks!
  13. Thermostat! 170 v 180

    Powertrain & Driveline
Forgive my ignorance, so what you're saying is that basically there is no advantage to using the 350z t-stat if the car is being controlled using the stock PCM anyways? I wonder why everyone keeps suggesting to get the 350z t-stat then, very confusing!
  14. Thermostat! 170 v 180

    Powertrain & Driveline
So I read this entire thread and I'm still a bit confused as to why the 350z t-stat (21200-4W01B) is recommended as opposed to the Xterra t-stat (21200-31U1B)? I understand going OEM, but why is the 170 degree opening temp of the 350z t-stat desirable over the 180 degree opening temp of the...
  15. What is the Correct Part Number for the 2006 Xterra All-weather Floor Mats?

    General Xterra
For anyone that might find this thread in the future, the floor mats with model number 999E1-KR000 fit my 2006 Xterra perfectly.
  16. What is the Correct Part Number for the 2006 Xterra All-weather Floor Mats?

    General Xterra
Just ordered some OEM all-weather floor mats for my 2006 SE and the listing claimed it was for 2005-2007 model years, listing 999E1-KR000 as the part number. However, when I google 999E1-KR000 several websites come up listing the floor mats as being for 2007-2008 model years. I tried finding...
