|IM1RU||I've never used it, I've never needed it. If the descent is that steep, it's in 4Lo and 1st gear. With 4.10's there aren't many times (except rock crawling in Moab) that I even use the brakes. But then again, I prefer to do the driving.|

I thought hill descent control only worked in 4 low?
Have a man pedal now, but never tried it in the P4X Frontier auto I had. It could have used it though, as the gearing was too high IMO going down steep, rutted mountain roads that need slow and steady and no brake.

"The hill descent control system helps maintain vehicle speed when driving under 15-21 mph(25-35 km/h) on steeper downhill grades. "
Sounds like the target is to keep it under 15mph.

|Ripper||The speed is going to be in relation to what great your in. I’ve played with it in 4hi, 4lo and in different gears. Don’t really use it, but for my intended use it oils only with with it on in 1st Gear 4lo. Thats super slow. But the descents I’ve used it on we’re just steep and either loose or slick. I would never use it in the rocks.|

Hill Descent Control Speed
Does anyone know what the "target set Speed" of Hilldescent control is on our vehicles?
Or does it depend on what gear we have the SUV locked into as it does on some other vehicles.?
I consulted the Owners Manual for 2015 (only manual I have despite driving a 2011) and it seems mum on that.
Check the corporate youtube channels on and they did not tell me anything either.
On other vehicles it can be set as whatever speed but for us.. whats is it?
If anybody knows thanks!!
