Here's what Professional Mechanic Scotty Kilmer thinks about the Xterra

Hey!

Apparently, Scotty believes the Xterra is unreliable, though should 2012 not have as many problems as 2006 which is only the 2nd year of gen 2?

I feel like this is a case of a guy just rattling off at the mouth, I mean sure he's got some mechanic experience but.. i wouldnt ay he's quite the "expert" that some say.

sounds like he just "think nissan auto trans's are crap" yet doesnt seem to know why or anythign about smod.

the xterra trans is pretty danm stout unless smod happens.

Scottie Kilmer might be a mechanic with years of experience but I've seen him do some outlandish and downright incorrect stuff. Lol.

Yes, our rigs have little quirks, but honestly just about every other vehicle does too. From airbags, to coolant leaks, to frame weaknesses, etc. It happens.

This guy's likely a little bit left of center and I'd take what he says with a grain of salt... I mean, have you seen the inside if his garage? He's a hoarder.

isn't that the truth!

Ive gone to the dealer before and talked them into letting me use their console knowing more about my X than the "master" mechanic

Every vehicle is trash to Scotty unless you have a 1996 Toyota Corona.

I like Scotty for the entertainment value mostly, and he gives some good sense advice on some basic things, though a lot of the specific stuff about individual makes and models of cars should be taken with a grain of salt.

He talks with such authority about the X being such an unreliable piece of junk, yet my 06 with 163k, original tranny, engine, and cats has left me broken down exactly 0 times over the course of 13 years.

I definitely wouldn't continue to drive something I thought was unreliable in this crap every day for sure:
