Hey Ted, sorry I missed this the first time this thread started. What was it about the Shrock bumper that prevented you from mounting your 285/75/16?

I'm going to be replacing my bumper soon (I hope) and don't want to go with a tire carrier version so I can carry my 285/70/17 spare in the stock location.

Did any of you guys improve on the spare stock-mounting method?
I want to mount my spare in the stock location for now and I'm afraid the dinky chain is not going to hold up the 285/75/16 lol.

I think you'd be surprised how much that dinky chain can hold. I haven't heard of anyone having a spare tire be too heavy for that...

I am no expert but i have had my 285/75/16 in the spare well for about 4 or 5 months and have been wheeling a couple of times, nothing crazy but a few trails and stuff and have had no problems.

I've got some 285/75R17's which are 34OD- think a deflated one would fit in the spare tire area?
