33s on 2ndGen

Im looking at buying a 2nd gen off road edition but want to upgrade to 33x12.5" tires. How much of a lift would I need or would a leveling kit do the trick? Also, im guessing the differentials, etc are heavy duty enough to handle 33 or 35s?

Search “melt-mod”. No lift needed for 33’s. 35’s, regearing would help a bunch.

33s on my '06 Offroad. Everything works fine, but the change in gearing has done significant damage to fuel mileage. On the other hand, they look right on the truck and do a fine job offroad. I do have rear spring sag and will replace those very soon. It's a little down in the rear with all the crap I haul around and hits the stops in the rear on potholes.

I didnt do ant sort of body lift - but I did install new UCA, new coilovers, and new leaf springs in the back - and my 33" Mickey Thompson's are fantastic.

Will 33x12.5 x16 fit with just the melt mod?

12.5 inches wide may be a tad too much. I'm running 285/75R16 Duratracs and had to do some fender trimming to be able to turn (I'm to inpatient for the melt mod).

so is Melt Mod mandatory even if you lift without spacers?

@Corvenik Ramos For me it was, yes. It's incredibly simple. Melt mod was about 5 min per tire. Easy stuff.

33 x 12.5ís are going to require more than a melt mod.
