He probably beat the emissions inspection by resetting the check engine light, installing spacers on the O2 sensors, letting the truck run the self test again until it cleared and then having it tested. Removed the spacers and then sold the truck. It's definitely not a fix but gets you past the emissions test.

So, narrowed it down, I think. Went with a buddy of mine, and listened to the "whine noise" seems to be coming from passenger side. GREAT NEWS ITS NOT THE TIMING CHAIN

Seems to be EVAP leak or Manifold leak or something else related to Exhaust.

2 CODES cam P0430 and P0355 (gas tank lid is okay )

Engine sounds great, only thing is may motor mounts need to be replaced because could feel engine shake a bit, and 02 and cat, but happy about not replacing the timing chain !!!

Sorry for hijacking the thread from OP

Hey bud, thank you for all your help...

Been very helpful...

I have a quick question for you, My Xterra makes a whining noise while driving. I would say a high pitch noise coming from driver side. Its not the timing chain guides issue. Also sounds that a whistle of air when I depress the accelerator peddle. What do you think it may be?

Alternator?

@xmaximaowner, start a new post for your questions please. This thread has been muddied enough already. That way you get specific answers to a specific need.

Way off topic now.
