Didn't the non-P4X manuals come with 3.54 ratio? As mentioned above, counting the teeth and doing the math is probably the best verification without diff tag (presuming correct one).

You don't even need to count. It is stamped on the ring gear. Absolutely no question what the ratio is if he looks.

Yes, the open m226 out of a manual non offroad/pro4x is 3.54.

Did your rear diff come with the electric locker? If not you likely are at 3.54. Now if you find the front is a 3.36 there are likely many on here that have 3.36 rear ring and pinion that you can get cheap and put in or buy another rear with a locker and 3.36 gears and try to sell what you have. If it has a locker and 3.69, many people would like what you have and you can likely sell for what a 3.36 will cost you.

The main reason i got started down this path because swapping to a m226 with e lock was cheap and returned a lot.

So....just opened the rear and it is 3.357 - 47/14

But while inspecting I believe I found my 3 year long clunk!!! When I discovered it my eyes almost watered up. I have replaced everything and went above and beyond the average search for this damn clunk! 3 years of wondering, searching, listening to it. Finally got the basturd!!!! Now Iím gonna kill it! Bustiní our the 6.5 Grendel!

Iím not sure what the part is, itís for sure apart of the electronic locker. Iím gonna take a video and post it.

Happy as a pig in ****!

On the other hand, I am perplexed that I have purchased three separate M205 front differentials from three different junkyards from three different coasts across the United States. And every single one of those differentials were said to be 3.357 ratio but weíre not.

What is the luck in that? From three separate sources? I really find it hard to believe. Iím still opening my front differential I have to see the numbers stamped on that ring gear to be fully convinced. Seriously what are the odds?

Just watched your video, I'll attach a diagram at the bottom for your reference. The part that you described as clunking is the actual solenoid for the locker (#25) and the retaining plate (#14) holding it in place from rotation and snapping the wire. As far as that plate moving, that is very odd. Mine fit tightly... Don't get discouraged, I have almost completely rebuilt my m226 other than the pinion and bearings. Maybe try ordering that retaining plate and see if it tightens up?
