VK56 Swap with Factory 6MT Adapter Plate - Collins Adapters

All,

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Collins Adapters now has an adapter plate specifically for the vk56 and the stock 6MT.

Can be found here:
VK56 to VQ40 Transmission Adapter With Crank Angle Sensor Mount

I know from following SinisterFrontier06's VK56 swap thread that he was working with them to develop this adapter after a failed run with ZFever (Fever Racing), post can be found here: https://www.thenewx.org/forum/11-powe...ml#post3685858

I sent them an email inquiring about this, and Brett said that the adapter plate was specifically developed to mount the factory 6MT to the VK56 and it is now available on their Website.

I am no expert on this adapter or the swap in general, just an interested party, As such questions should be directed at the appropriate parties. Just trying to share what I've found for anyone else who may be interested.

Thanks,

-AustinFound

I've been following the development of this adapter closely. Driven Desire sound to be working on a full detailed how-to. With the adapter now in existence, Im fully confident this is something I can do in my garage, with purchase of a harness too, of course.

For me, a V8 would turn the X into the perfect rig for how I use it. Im personally very excited about this! Time to start looking for a motor. I plan to first confirm the new gen VK56 will work, and then seek one of those. 390hp, better economy(than previous vk58) and better power delivery sounds pretty darn good.

Since they're using the Xterra transmission are they using the Xterra clutch?

(Sorry if this had been answered somewhere else, I'm not read up on this)

No Idea on Clutch, I'd assume yes, but again, I'm just an interested party, with no first hand knowledge.

For the harness PM SinisterFrontier06. I believe he makes and sells them.

Why would you blow your engine if it is not tuned (per disclaimer)? Crank sensor?

Expensive piece of metal, but cool they make them. For that price, I would expect an entire bellhousing (adapter) though, doubling as scattershield...similar to my t56 conversion 'kit', although that is just alum, but came with a lot more like slave cyl, reservoir and so on for not a whole lot more...it too was limited prod #.

They donít want to be liable, thatís why.

I donít think our m/t has a removable bell housing either.

There's been some Q & A going on on the Driven Desire social media pages about crank sensor, clutch, tuning, etc.

How do you use it? You take it to the drag strip?
