BTW - I am one of those people making 100K a year, and I refuse to pay 40K for a taco, or whatever. The key to accumulating wealth is more about how little you spend, than how much you make. My 2008 Xterra, which I bought new, now has 283,000 miles on it and I like it fine.
Couldn't agree more, I have said this for about 2 years now. The car and truck market has went crazy because people are ok with financing their car for twice as long as it takes to earn a college degree!

Who cares about the total cost when you are only looking at the payment. I on the other hand was happy buying used and paying cash.

In many cases they may cost more than a German luxury sedan.
But in some sort of twist, a truck costing 70-90k is somehow justifiable and you are allowed to sneer at those 'rich *******' in their sedans.
I hear it everyonce in a while, someone will pull up in their spotless heavy duty diesel and then comment about my dad's Audi, which cost 10-20k less than their truck...

I get a kick out of the guys that don't want to carry anything that isn't soft for fear of scratching their 6' bed

You're right, for some crazy reason I'm of the mindset that you should buy what you can actually AFFORD, not rack up as much debt as you can, just hoping to afford the minimum payments.

But I also live in Denver where I pay $1700/month just to rent a frickin' 2 bedroom townhome.

If I don't get the new ZR2 my neighbors will know that Ken and Barbie are actually broke. It is time to sell the X, roll the negative equity and get those $900 car payments, we don't need to eat every day right?

I wonder if that's why the bankers have nicer furniture in their offices than I do in my house?

On a separate note, this is one sweet truck. I'm actually liking it a bit more than the trucks I would by if I had the money.

Finally got to take a short test drive in one today. Ext cab. I can not lie, I really liked this truck. Overall it was a blast to drive. I really could not fault it for anything. The seats are really comfortable. Nice power from the 6.
