Default Wife is Buying a 1988 Desert Runner!

So my wife decided she wanted to learn how to drive off-road. So we found her a nice little beater truck she can learn in without worrying about ruining a 30k dollar vehicle.

She is getting the 1988 Nissan Desert Runner 4x4. It is getting delivered tomorrow and we will be putting up lots of photos of it. It is in rough shape but she is excited to be able to work on something that is all hers and do what she wants with it.

We are hoping to get it road worthy in time maybe get it to GoneMoab.

If any of you know what this truck is you know its pretty rare to see them on the roads today, they only made a very limited quantity.

Here is the original flyer for the truck when it was released:

She does not like the paint job I was like "But...thats what makes it soo coool"

She wants to do a flat black maybe rhino line the entire body....since its not my truck I can only protest as hard as possible but she has full say in what she does with it.

Oh, heck no ... that's one of those kind of vehicles that really needs to be brought back to showroom stock; or at least only minimally upgraded where current tech can supplant old tech in a much better, but very subtle, way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for chopping and modding and painting, but if she wants a bedlined/flat black Hardbody, there are better (less unique) starting points than an original Desert Runner.

Save that truck!

Sell Steph on the paint. You haven't tried hard enough. When you get the engine rebuilt we should hit Moab so she's comfortable with the truck before gonemoab.
