Default Why does the 4WD light on the gauge cluster not work????

So, I noticed when you turn on the ignition and all the lights around the gauges light up, there is a 4WD light in the upper left.
So why the heck doesn't it come on when you are in 4WD??!!

Sure, the diagram of the chassis shows that your front tires are engaged... But it would be nice if the 4WD indicator lit up as well.
I'm guessing this is similar to the low washer fluid light not actually working?? Lame cost savings...

The 4WD light only comes on if there are issues with the 4WD system. Otherwise it doesn't come on.

I agree with Ryan - it indicates an issue within the 4x4 system. All of those lights are warning lights

Thanks for the USEFULL quick replies guys.
That makes sense, although if it came on while wheeling I don't think I would recognize it as a warning light immediately...

Haha you're wondering why a diagnostic light isn't coming on when there isn't anything wrong and hating on it for functioning properly. Yes it is unbelievable, yet it just happened!

Well than next time keep your mouth shut and don't post. No need to be jerk. On some vehicles a 4wd indicator light indicates that you ARE in fact in 4wd and it is not a trouble light. So the guy or gal didn't read their owners manual yet. And as far as referencing the low washer fluid light, I believe Nissan did in fact make it non-functional in some model years.

My humble apologies to all, sometimes I find myself raising my hopes and expectations for the human race. I have shut my optimism back in the closet. Good luck with your owner's manual man!

I guess I there is a problem with my rear diff lock then??
I better check that out!

Dude, move along next time you plan on bringing ZERO useful info to a thread, and find something better to do.
If that last part is a problem for you... I'm sorry.
