Comments:
I shopped around for a bit on what I wanted to get. Before the X, I had a 2000 Ford Exploder, which sucked big time. I tried offroading in it, but it was useless, and all I could do well was big dusty fields and muddy construction sites. Then I decided to do the whole save gas thing, and sold the Explorer and got a 2008 MAZDA 6i, in the silver flavor. Loved the car, was a blast to drive, but I wasn't happy in it. I still wanted to offroad, and a MAZDA 6 aint the offroad type, so I traded it in for this beauty. Now I have a sexy truck, and can offroad with the best of em. (Sort of).

I want to say aries.. but honestly I don't know. I was lazy and took it to an Offroad shop and just asked for a brush guard. I'll have to find the papers to see exactly which one I got. It's served me well though. But I can't wait to ditch it and get a hefty or shrockworks bumper.

Unfortunately not. I got some money for Christmas, so Im either taking a trip to Colorado/Wyoming or getting some armor or a lift. Haven't decided. In other news, my Gobi ladder is rusting and its annoying me. On the top bracket, where water accumulates, right behind where it says GOBI... Dont know what I'm going to do about it. Theres no way I can get it off to paint it. That thing is on there, that sticky tape they use is no joke.

Is it inside the angle there? Get yourself a wire brush and elbow grease(or if you have an angle grinder or Dremel, a sanding wheel) to get the rust off, prime with Rustoleum, repaint.

If it's sandwiched between the bracket and the ladder itself, I'm afraid you'll have to deal with the tape. Get a plastic pry tool to avoid scratching it up even further. The tape they gave us isn't that strong (could have been grey emblem tape - that stuff's a $&%*@.), worst case is you'll be doing a lot of scraping before reapplying new tape. Goof-Off and WD-40 can help get the gunk off, but remember to clean thoroughly afterward.

The first thing I did after installing my ladder was to Plastidip the upper bracket (and bedline the stupid flange), it's held up to nearly a year of abuse so far, but any chips that occurred elsewhere in my ladder rusted pretty much instantly.

A little update.. Gonna be taking off the brush guard soon, and stealthing the front bumper, then im going to stealth the rear and plasti-dip the emblems. Sooner or later I'm going to take the wheels off and stealth them and get some new rubber (duratracs most likely) in the 285 flavor. Gonna look good once i'm done with it.

Regarding the grill guard.. when I take it off to stealth, I'm not putting it back on. I gotta find somewhere to put those KC lights or remove them, but other than that should be painless. Thinking of selling KC's with grill guard. Eventually grill guard WILL BE FOR SALE, probably local so I dont have to even think of shipping it. I will drive a bit for you (To ATL, for example if your local to Atlanta). Look for it in the for sale section sometime soon!

Thanks for reading. I'll post pics and updates when I get going with this stuff. Heres some cool photos for ur enjoyment. (I used Photoshop's HDR enhancement tool. I think it looks pretty sweet...) Oh, and ignore me standing in the shadow of the first pic

Default Advice needed! Grill guard wont come off lol

Another update! Took off the KC Daylighters... they were a b!tch to deal with the de-wiring. Left the switch in so I didnt have a hole in the dash, and so if I needed it later I can use it. Now onto the grill guard...... The damn thing wont come off. The big ass bolts are just spinning..slowly. Both sides (the bolt, and nut) spin at the same time when I turn them, making it impossible to loosen them and take it off. Can't wait to get this thing off tho. Once its off, I'm going to stealth the front and back, and emblems. Gonna look good once I can get it done. All I gotta do is get this damn guard off. Anybody have any suggestions? I tried holding one side while I turned the other, but it wont budge when I do that. IDK how they tightened these bolts, but seems like superman is needed to untighten them..
