Sooo, Driving on salt water for 6 straight months a year, for 4 straight years really takes a tole on a vehicle.
My bumper was getting bad, so I decided to restore it.
It was my first time doing anything like this, and my first time useing bedliner.

Thanks to everyone who helped me in this thread. :eek:ccasion5:

Here it is finished, all stealthed! :)

Used USMCs thread for Bumper Removal

Hese how it looked.

Nasty!

Sooo, I went out and bought some stuff...

One of these. (fine and coarse)

One of these.

One of these.

This.

Oh, and you cant forget some of this...

Plus some rust preventer/sealer (not pictured)

And I used this.

To get to here.

The whiped down with acetone.

And applied 2 coats of the rust preventer, and another coat where I took it down to bare metal, and on the insides where it was starting to rust really bad.

Then let dry for 24 hours like the can instructions say.
In the mean time, consumed beers.

After drinking some water the next morning (12 hours later), I used a brillow pad, and scuffed the surface.
Then used flat black Rustoleum, and did the same process of coating like the rust preventer.

let that dry for a little bit, then scuffed that with 400 grit sand paper.

Then applied 4 coats of Duplicolor Bedliner.

And consumed more beers.

Will mount tomorrow and see final product!

Thanks!
just for added protection. and it acted more like a primer. I wasn't 100% sure how the bedliner would stick to the rust sealer I was using.
And I didn't bedline the inside of the bumper, only the outside.
It just helped seal everything up. Figured I do it the best I could while I had it off the first time.
I only painted the inside, welds, and where I took it down to bare metal. Places I thought would be more prone to rust in the future.
