Default Full Synthetic at 10000 miles

I installed Mobile 1 5W-30 Full Synthetic motor oil and a Mobile 1 Extended Performance oil filter; now hoping for the best in the future.

I changed over at the 15k mark. So far so good, but just as I expected, I didn't notice any change in gas mileage or performance.

I changed over because I was use to spending $25 on an oil change (I never did it my self...not worth it). Once I got my Shrock bumper I wasn't about to let someone else do it as they would fill my front skid up with oil and not care. So I go to Sam's club, buy a case of Mobile 1 for about $26, ordered me a bunch of OEM filters from yourissanparts.com and change it every 5K. Been working out well for me...I just need to get rid of the old oil now.

How often are you suppose to change it with regular oil? I thought it was suppose to be 3000 miles, but on the slip I got from Nissan it said 3750.

Ah the age old question. With Dino oil I changed every 3K to 3.5K. With Synethic I will be changing every 5K-6K.

Nissan has some off number, I usually try to stick with a nice round number. It doesn't hurt to change it a bit early or even a bit late.

One thing that Nissan does not state is to change your oil (and filter) at about 1200-1500 miles on a brand new engine. There is so much junk in there as the engine first starts to break in. I changed mine at 1200 and it was black and had visible metal shavings in it. I then flushed it by filling up with cheap dino oil, running the engine until it got hot and then changed it again. I think changed the oil once more at 3000 miles. I kept with the dino oil and the 3k change until 15k when I changed over to Synthetic and the 5k intervals.

Right, I switched to synthetic at 10000 miles and change every 5k. It's easier to remember now.

Haven't switched over yet, but will at 3k

Mustang, Altima, and 01 X were all switched over at 3k miles. Altima gets changed every 6k. 01 got changed every 6k as well.

Mustang only twice a year because I only put maybe 4k miles a year on it if that. Change in the fall and spring using the 15k mile extended Mobil 1.

Use a good quality filter such as the Mobil 1 filter as well.

edit: btw, I've seen motors that have been torn down that have used Mobil 1. They are clean as if they just left the factory.

I switched at 4k on the X, and thats plenty in my book. The old adage oof 10k applied to older engines with less tight tolerances.

If you are spending the $ for the mobil full syn, use it for up to 10k. If you dont believe me, see what mercedes master techs recommend, my AMG came with full syn from the factory and the cars self diagnostic "eye" doesnt call for an oil change until the 9k -11k mark. I still did it between 7-10k depending on what kind of miles I ran.

On the X, i think ill do mobil full syn every 6-7k
Getyour value out of the $$ mobil.

Switched my X at 3k miles to Mobil1, don't intend on using any other oil anytime soon.

I switched to Mobile1 synthetic at 1500 miles. Even with synthetic I change about every 3k to 4k miles even though it's over kill. You can never change oil too quickly though.
