New Tires Question
I found somebody selling some tires I am interested in. Can I replace tires myself, or does this have to be done at a service station? It seems I might be able to simply deflate them and take them off and put on my wheels. Does this require a special tool? What else would a tire center do? There is no balancing to be done, right? Thanks for any help.

take it to a pro.
the tires will need to be balanced and there are tools required to install tires on wheels if you want it done correctly.

go to tire shop
Any tire shop...firestone, pep boys, discount, etc. will install them and BALANCE them. Without thousands or dollars in tools and equipment you can't balance them yourself and the ride will be terrible. Also without a balance your tires will wear out prematurely and potentially wear unevenly (ruins them).
If the deal is good go for it, you just have to take it to the shop and they'll charge you anywhere from $15-30 per tire to install them. Just call around.

well, you could do it yourself. you can balance your tires with beads (dyna beads or BB's) - they go inside the tire. you could simply put the tire on the rim, set the bead with the ol' lighter fluid trick, then break the bead, pour in the balancing beads, then fill er up with air - that's what I'm doing with my 42's on Camotoe. But, save yourself the headache and take it to a tire center.

That's a good point. But then again why would you pay someone to balance 42's anyway....not like that's gonna improve their on road performance lol

Hey, thanks for the input guys. Sounds like I would be better off getting them from Costco.
Anyway, if somebody is in Southern Cali, you may want to jump on these:

Thanks again
