· It is each individual’s responsibility to read and comply with the rules of this forum.
1) No topics containing religious, racial, or political discussion. (they are the top three flame starting topics.)
2) Do not post NSFW (Not Safe for Work), material. If you find a thread or post you feel is NSFW, please report it to the moderators.
3) Keep cussing to a minimum (there is a cuss filter setup). Do not change around letters or use spaces to avoid the cuss filter. (Talk like you would talk to your boss, parents or 5 year old daughter.)
4) Do not type in all caps - it means you are shouting.
5) Do not use excessive colors, bold letters, or ASCII characters.
6) Do not spam or flood the forum with repeated statements or questions.
7) Do not exhibit disruptive behavior.
8) Post topics under their respective forum. Keep topics on track and do not post to intentinally derail a thread. These posts maybe be moved or deleted.
9) Do not post the same topic in multiple forms.
10) Do not threaten or "flame" members of the board. This includes snide or brash comments. Treat people with respect and post with tact.
11) There will be NO advertising for the various schemes and free items on the internet. This includes "pyramid" type advertising (where you tell 5 people and if they tell 5 people you get a free Ipod etc). If this is your first post you will probably be banned as you just came onto the forum to spam.
12) Do not argue with an administrator or moderator. They have final say. You can disagree with us, but do so with respect. Do not resort to name calling (Nazi, gestapo, dictators, etc.).
13) Do not simply tell someone to use the "search" function. If you must tell someone to search, please do it politely and respectfully and provide at least one useful link pertaining to the topic.
14) One user account per person. If it is found that you have multiple accounts, all accounts will be banned. This includes circumventing a ban or just being funny.
15) Do not create pointless threads. If a thread is created just for the purpose of it being full of pointless posts it will be closed or deleted.
Continued violation and/or complete disregard of these rules may result in a temporary or permanent ban. We use an infraction system to help facilitate the content of this forum.
To try and help the moderators of this forum track problems and keep order, we are implementing user infractions. A user infraction system allows the moderators to issue warnings and infractions to users who break rules or cause trouble. When a warning or infraction is issued, a PM is sent to the user with details of why the warning or infraction was issued. This hopefully will allow for better communication with a user on exactly what rule was broken.
My hope is to not have to use this system much, but with the increased user base of the site, it's getting harder and harder to keep track of problems and handle them efficiently.
Below is the information on the infraction system and showing how many points each infraction is worth and the action taken when certain numbers are reached.
User Infraction Levels:
| Infraction | Warnings | Points | Expire | Comments |
|---|
| Spam | 1 | 1 | 3 Months | | | Racial, Political or religious threads | 1 | 1 | 6 Months | | | Avatar, Profile picture and Signature rule violations | 1 | 1 | 3 months | (unless it falls under the obscene or porno graphic) | | Excessive profanity / circumvent the cuss filter | 1 | 1 | 3 Months | | | Arguing with / Insulting a Moderator | 1 | 1 | 3 Months | | | General Rule Violation | 1 | 1 | 3 Months | | | Excessive cross-posting | 1 | 1 | 3 Months | | | Insulted Other Member(s) (Personal attacks, insults, snide or brash comments, or flames) | 1 | 1 | 6 Months | | | Obscene Material (NSFW) | 1 | 2 | 6 Months | (This could include text, links, video or pictures including (but not limited to) the following scantly clad women, excessive violence, illegal activities, drug use, excessive profanity or any other questionable content that could get someone fired from work for viewing). | | Racism | 0 | 3 | Never | (This is reserved for severe racial comments. See the racial, political or religious infraction for lesser infraction.) | | Pornographic Material | 0 | 6 | Never | |
Automatic Ban:
| Number of Infraction Points | Ban Period |
|---|
| 3 | 1 Week | | 6 | 1 Month | | 9 | 3 Months | | 12 | 6 Months | | 15 | 1 Year | | 20 | Permanent |
User Infraction Forum Restrictions:
If any users reaches 5 infraction points, that user will lose access to the "Contest and Giveaways" forum as well as the "TOTM" forum. Once enough infractions points expire to bring the user down below 5, the users access to these forums will be reinstated. Keep in mind, if you get an infraction for posting porn, you will lose access to these forums indefinitely.
If you wish to appeal the decisions of a temporary or permanent ban please email the following admin@theXterra.org.

For Sale Rules - These apply to the "For Sale" Forum on www.thenewx.org (www.theXterra.org).
1) No spamming the forums or cross-posting. There is no reason to post the same thing in many forums. Cross posts will be all deleted at the moderator's discretion.
2) Thread bumps, these will be deleted from a thread at the moderators discretion. Please update your thread with pertinent information only.
3) This is not an auction, if you don't post a price or list what you wish to trade for, please use ebay, yahoo, or some other site to sell your stuff.
4) If you disagree with a posted price, DO NOT post your opinions within the buyers or sellers thread about how you can get it at a better price, etc., take it offline with the seller and refrain from flaming, arguing, or generating heated discussions.
5) Please indicate your location (city/State/Province, and zip/ postal code may be useful for shipping information.)
6) When a single item (out of many items listed for sale) sells, update the first post of the thread identifying as **SOLD** You may also delete your own threads.
7) Remember, moderators are sometimes busy. Sometimes we do not read every post. If something is out of line, pm or email a moderator so that we can correct it without a flame war.
8) All classified ads MUST have list a selling price. The only exception to this rule is if you are parting out a car or making an ad w/ multiple listings. Even under these circumstances you still must list prices individually.
9) This isn't a place to charge considerably more or double the retail value of items being sold currently just because there is limited access. There are places like eBay for that.
10) Price hiking is not allowed based on amount of responses.
11) Once an item has sold, please update the end of your thread letting a moderator know it's sold so we they can lock the post.
12) The owners and moderators of the www.thenewx.org (www.theXterra.org) are not responsible for any sales that go bad. Buy and Sell at your own risk.

The submission thread will close at midnight of the last day of the month. At this time a voting poll will be created for the users to vote on their favorite picture/truck. The voting will last 7 days, at which time a winner will be announced. If after the closing of the poll there is a tie, there will be a 2 day vote off between the tied submissions. 12) Entries must be made by 11:59p.m. (EST) on the last day of the month.
13) Have fun.
At the end of the year we will take all of the winners and put them up against one another to have the Truck Of The Year (TOTY) selected. That winner will get some kind of award and their truck will be placed on the home page.
This contest is open to all trucks from stock to super modified, 2wd and 4wd. So get out there and get those photos. The better the photo the better the chance of you winning. Please do not risk harm or injury to yourself, your vehicle, the environment, etc. If you have a submission that boarders on that, the admin/mod team will determine if it should be allowed for submission. The Rules will be followed, no questions. If the rules are not followed, your entry will be removed immediately.

1) Only one thread per user/per vehicle. (ie. If you have two Xterra's, you can create one thread for each)

3) Please edit the first post with new information. To let people know that there is something new about your Xterra, you can place a new post in the thread detailing the change.

5) No "bump" posts. We know you want people to look at your Xterra, but bumping a thread if there is nothing new can be annoying. Bump posts will be deleted.
6) No flaming other users or their vehicles. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others don't. Constructive criticism is allowed, but please keep it mature.
7) Keep the number of photos to a minimum. If you have a large group of photos to share, post a link to a photo gallery or links to individual photos.

UPDATED 09/13/2010
Pictures & Videos Rules - These apply to the "Pictures & Videos" Forum on www.thenewx.org.
Any photo may be removed by the moderation group for any reason and the admin/mod's have final say. Examples of photos that may be removed;
...a. Photos showing dangerous situation for the driver, by standards or the vehicle it's self.
...b. Photos showing damage to the environment or structures.
.......1. Show vehicles on an obvious trail, clearly hardened surface, or sand.
.......2. Never show vehicles blazing a new trail.
.......3. Avoid use of the word "wilderness" in conjunction with motorized or mechanized vehicles.
.......4. Refrain from showing vehicles in excessive water or mud.
.......5. Avoid excessive speed.
...c. Photos depicting inappropriate activities. Keep the photos PG please!
...d. Any other reason we see fit.
Rules - Clarification / Explanation
a. (dangerous situation): There have been some people point out photos that might be a dangerous situation, but were not pulled. For instance, a photo of someone with their arm out of the window while the vehicle was leaning. Is it dangerous, sure, but it's not the type of dangerous situation we would pull a picture for. What we are looking at is things that present serious injury, death or accident. Things such as jumping the vehicle on the street (or in an unsafe location or manor), speeding, someone surfing on the roof, etc.
b. (damage to the environment or structures): The main part of the rule says it all. Do not post pictures that show damage to the environment or structures.
b.1. (obvious trail): A vehicle does not have be shown on just an obvious trail, but a hardened surface or sand. What this means is that if you are crawling over a rock and you can't tell where the "trail" is in the photo, it's not a concern. You are on rocks, it's a hardened surface. Also look back to the main rule, "no damage to the environment", so this means that you can be parked in short grass, as long as you are not turfing it up. I would say however, that parking in tall grass is not acceptable. Rolling over grass that is 2-3 inches tall is one thing. Rolling over grass that is 2-3 feet tall is another. The sand thing, as long as it's a location where vehicles are permitted and you are not driving over the biocrust out west, you are pretty safe.
b.2. (Blazing new trail): Obviously if new land opens up to motorized vehicles and there are no existing trails, trails need to be built. However, showing pictures of vehicles in tall grass, running down trees, turfing up the ground are not appropriate. If you want to show pictures of people actually marking and cutting a trail, we are fine there. That shows that there was organization and thought put into it. Showing a vehicle ripping stuff up and then trying to justify it as we are building a new trail with permission just does not cut it.
b.3. (Wilderness): It's pretty self explanatory. As an example, if you post up a picture and say, "This was taken in a wilderness area". It will be removed.
b.4. (excessive mud and water): This one has been a big issue and of all the rules, it's also the more gray as "excessive" leaves a lot open for judgment. To give this rule more clarity, here is our interpretation. Fording deep water or rolling through a deep mud puddle is not an issue, the key is speed. If someone posts a photo that shows mud or water spray higher than the hood, then they were most likely going too fast. Remember, as slow as possible, but as fast as needed. Yes, getting through mud take momentum, however, it does not mean you have to hit a mud hole at 30mph. There are some exceptions. If someone is at a real mud bog, there is no problems with it. However, the photo must show that is what it is. It should not be just some mud in a field with ripped up grass all around. It must be a valid mud pit and pictures showing so.
b.5. (Excessive speed): Obviously we are not going to prevent people from posting desert race photos. However, we need to make sure that any photos showing fast speeds do not show any environmental damage. Also, dust is going to happen, however, photos showing people intentionally kicking up a lot of dust should not be posted. Photos or video of people speeding on the road or flying down tree lined trails will not be allowed.
c. (inappropriate activities): This should be self explanatory. The rules state post must be PG, but a conservative PG. This means no puke cover doors, No half naked chicks spread across the hood, No illegal activities (drugs use). Photos of people drinking should be reasonable (no wild frat party pictures of people doing beer bongs, keg stands, or other forms of alcohol abuse).
d. (because we said so): The admins and moderators do have final say on this forum.
