Only a person who has Admin rights can send the general email/PM. Moderators cannot send these.

How about a tip of the hat to Nycxterra for subbing for awhile? Kept a few of us sane for a couple of days, not to mention letting everyone know what was going on.

So I missed it. what happened to the site? Got a new headunit yesterday and had to go to the "other" site for info...install was relatively easy though except for the plastic face plate that covers up the gaps. My hubby spent 30 minutes shaving that sucker to almost nothing. But if fits now ;o)

I know its 2 early to give any suggestions but is there any way Dan could bring some of the functions that were on the other forum here?

What kind of functions are you looking for?

There seems to be an "insiders club" that knows what happened, and had access to a temporary forum.

A)
Can someone, preferably Dan, put a Sticky in the "Site Stuff" section of the board outlining what happened, and what was done(and by whom) to fix it, including whether or not there was any data loss.

B)
Can "those in the know" explain their comments about things such as the temporary forum, private messages, etc.

P.S.
I'm not looking for particular technical details - just a general explanation. I think I know what was wrong, and had I been able to access the host, could probably have fixed it.

As an aside, I've mentioned a couple of times before that I'd be willing to make changes/fixes to the site for ideas I had(I know PHP, MySQL, etc.), but there was never any response, including by Dan. As this downtime has shown, it doesn't hurt to have 'distributed management'.

calendar- people seemed to like that since you can see the new events and any private events anyone wants to hold

more smileys :P people used and abused them there

when posting, a different layout of the code buttons (instead of clicking 2x on img you click it once paste the link and your done) and maybe include a link for an image hosting website

and a few more which i cannot think of at the moment lol im sure MC can name a few more

Yea, there was no contingency plan if something happened. When Dan set this board up he NEVER expected it to get this big. When talking with him on Friday I mentioned this to him and that there needs to be a backup plan for this. Too many people depend on it. There are a few of us that are going to work on it.

Hey there guys. Sorry for the long delay on getting the site back up. I have been on the road for two weeks now. The biggest thing was me trying to get a hold of Cornick to help me out. No worries now since I've made him an admin to help me out. I apppologize for the long down time. We will be working out a couple of ideas in the admin section for some improvements in the site.

I never really thought that this would be as big of a site as it is when I first created it. This thing has taken off and is still growing. Thanks to all of you for being so patient and understanding. If it wasn't for you guys then this site wouldn't be what it is today. I'll be working on somethings as fast as I can from the road.

Cornick, like I said when we talked. Thanks for helping me out real quick on getting this back up and to everyone else welcome home. :cheers:

Glad to hear from you again, Dan. I've been meaning to ask you, whatever happened to your own pages on Xterra mods and procedures (eg. rear sway bar removal)? Didn't you used to have a link to it in your signature?

It went down. They wanted to much money for the site to keep running and there wasn't alot of traffic going through there anyways.

i leave town for a couple days and come home to everything being fixed... what a relief... i was worried for a few days there.
