1)
remove the reflection in the windshield of the lower right X
2)
do a version where the text is just plain white, without the 'mud splatter' effect
3)
change the bottom text to read:
NO MATTER WHAT PATH YOU TAKE
THE NEW XTERRA WILL GET YOU THERE
- PATH vs TRAIL, because it's not all about "trails" or off-road, as 'the blackest X', muffler mods, etc. show us
- don't use "take" twice

1-yea i am working on that, trying to make a smooth finish on the windshield and the hood, but his car is like a damn mirror lol

2- did the text plain white removed the mud splatter, will now try to add some effects to it

the top two look out of place, because they are not grounded by anything. No shadow, no horizon. They kinda float along and look weird.

drop the yellow X to the beach, and the silver one goes up in to the mountains at the top..

Edit- it's not silver just dirty. I meant move the rock climber up and ...

ehh once again just messing with it.. since ppl didnt like the floating cars i decided to do this

What about a version of this, but with the text in a straight line?
Have "No Matter What Path Yo Take" across the top of the image,
and "The New Xterra Will Get You There" across just below the middle of the image, above the two lower Xs.

Some more comments / suggestions / questions :-)

Looks like there is a space missing between "Get" and "You"?
2)
The two lines of text don't look to be centered in regards to the image width.
3)
Something about "TheNewX.org" doesn't seem right to me.
I know it needs to be 'different' than the rest of the text.
Maybe it's the 'splatter effect', or the size, or the color.
4)
The text at the bottom 'covers' parts of the Xs, but I think it looks OK.
I don't like so much how the text at the top covers parts of those Xs.
Would it work to move the upper line of text down to the bottom edge
of the upper photos, and move "TheNewX.org" up to the middle top?

Maybe Dan can chime in on this. What size can the banner image be?
The current banner:

is 275px by 148px.
You should try your design at that size, to see how it looks, especially the text.

Your image shows four Xs, but unlike the current banner image, not a SAS'd one, and no 'Shrock stuff'. If the banner image can be wider than the current image, maybe you can add two more images (2 rows of 3).
Or, another possibility is to change the table layout(yuk!) that is used for the banner image and top of the page, to allow for two images - one either side of the heading and links to the FAQ, Search, etc.

Another 'Dan question' - what limitations are there on the banner image file size, and/or file format?
The current banner image is a GIF image. It might work to use an animated GIF to display two versions of the banner image?

and yes you can have an animated banner, the size can be as big as 1000px by 1000px but i dont want the page to shift.

I think we should not just vote on the entire banner, but which photos would look good in the banner. For instance, the newest banner has my X, but from a year ago (lots of mods missing). I also have a lot better photos of the X than that one.

Also, remember, ask permission to use the photos. Photo theft is a big thing on the Internet, and I know you are not "stealing" them, but some people won't see it that way.

If we want to vote on both photos and banner, should we start by everyone posting a pic of their car IF they approve usage of that picture being used...then people voting on their 'x' number of favorites (However many we want in the banner)?

Seems like this is getting awful complicated though...
