: Utilikilts anyone?
Old Navy 07-19-2006, 08:28 PM Ran across an unusual site that is selling a special deisgn of kilts called Utilikilts, [ http://www.utilikilts.com/ ]. They are committed to pioneer a comfortable alternative to trousers by producing "Men's Unbifurcated Garments" (MUG's).

Karpediem 07-20-2006, 11:29 AM If a guy wears a skirt does it become a kilt? Or if a girl wears a kilt is it a skirt?
RogueClimber 07-20-2006, 04:02 PM Women wear skirts. Men Kilts! The ladies can'y make a true kilt work, something to do with the sett (not a typo) of the Tartan, ie how the pattern aligns when the kilt is pleated...

Also, kilts are designed to sit on the top of the hips, and not at the waist. Very hard for a woman to wear a kilt correctly, as most women wear their clothing at the waist.
Jodokast872 07-28-2006, 04:36 PM I might be stupid but doesn't a kilt have to be of a tartan, not just some random design?

8th Man 07-28-2006, 09:41 PM If your interested in finding out more about your Scottish heritage, there are plenty of sites that can help you find the Tartan of your family. Try here:

My family migrated to America from Scotland in the early 1800's. I own a kilt which bears my family colours (Scott...doesn't get much easier than that) and I wear it at Scottish festivals in my area.
Your kilt represents your family name. Wear your family's colours (Tartan) with pirde. We Scott's take these matters seriously.

I'm with you MC. I'm Greek and Portuguese, the Kilt is not my thing. I do have a friend in Carson City who's last name is Scott, and I'm positive that he wears is Tartan with pride.
