: Working Out
RiverboyXEZ 01-22-2007, 09:59 PM Who all works out here and what do yall do?
I do alot of cardio then lift weights. I'm bottom heavy (all legs) so I like doing lower body the most. It ends up breaking down like this:
Monday - cardio, lower body, abs
Tuesday - cardio, lower body, shoudlers
Wednesday - cardio, lower body, arms, chest
Thursday - cardio lower body, upper body
Friday - cardio, abs, cardio abs
Saturday - slow pace cardio, lower body, neck
Sunday - cardio, light weight full body
I will add a sit in the sauna if I feel like it. (usually if I eat alot of candy, or beer  )
Is that to much cardio and lower body :geek: . For those who work out do ya'll take anything? Right now the only think I take (drink) is Myolean which is a recoup shake.
bigdaddychia 01-22-2007, 10:03 PM i work out 4 days a week. I do an hour of a cardio aday. ONce i can get in to the rythym i will increase that.

as far as your workout, you're ok, but you're doing a lot of cardio if you want to get thick/big. if you lifted 4 days a week and did cardio the other three, you'd be doin A-OK. you burn about as many calories lifting heavy as you do doing cardio for the same period of time. a good 7 day split would be tris/chest/shoulders, cardio, back/biceps/traps, cardio, lower body & abs, cardio (rowing is good cardio after the lower body workout so you can rest your sore ass legs) and then rest on sunday. I was getting a nutrition degree before I switched, and my wife is a licensed fitness instructor.
As far as the Myolean and such, believe me when I say it's all bullcrap. you could eat a million pills and shakes each day and other doing some damage to your kidneys and liver there is no substitute for low fat healthy protein- salmon, fish, chicken, turkey, etc.
Jodokast872 01-22-2007, 11:57 PM ah yes i too have experienced wallyball thanks to everyones greatest air force. :geek:
RiverboyXEZ 01-23-2007, 08:34 AM What is wally ball?
DragonPlayBoy my buddy is a trainer and he said a 20 to 30 minutes run at my target heart rate is good before I go to lift weights. He said something about it doing something or other to my bloodstream and all the scientific hoopblah haha. So I just do it, don't worry I'm way bigger than when I started :glasses7: :naka:
lostboy 01-23-2007, 08:45 AM My routine is starts on Saturdays, don't ask
Saturday: Chest, tri's, legs
Sunday: Back and bi's
Monday: Basketball
Tuesday: Shoulders, legs
Wednesday: Basketball
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Maintance lift (anything I wussed out on during the week)
I usually throw in two rounds of biking for cardio when ever I feel like it. Between that and the two days of basketball if keeps in pretty good shape.
I also do abs everyday I am at the gym.
As far as getting bigger, last winter it took me 6 months to gain 20lbs. In April this past year I hurt my back and was limited on what I could do, I dropped the 20lbs in about 2.5 months. However in August I started lifting hard again but no basketball and no cardio. I picked up the 20lbs again in about 2.5 months. Now I am ramped back up on my cardio and still holding the weight. However, cardio is so good for you that the slow weight gain probably isn't a bad thing.
Supplements, I drink whey protien shakes and both times I wanted to gain weight I used creatine to help on 30 day intervals. It seemed to help me gain weight and I only tried it because I couldn't pick up any weight before taking it.
I won a gym, have a related degree, been in national magazines, and some local television as the fitness expert. Im thinking that doing lower body like everyday isnt the best idea.................
If your going to work out that much, go with a body part a day spilt. But.something else that would help me answer this, is what are you working out for? General health? Or looks?
lostboy 01-23-2007, 11:03 AM General health? Or looks?
Well duh, everyone goes for looks of course :geek:
I assume from your other post you own a gym. The won a gym threw me off and I thought that was way cool. However owning a gym is cool as well.
Since you probably know more than the rest of us. What would be your optimal work out plan for health and looks, a good happy medium for both?
RogueClimber 01-23-2007, 11:23 AM I drank the koolaid...
Gym Jones (http://www.gymjones.com/)
CrossFit (http://crossfit.com/)
Amazingly tough whole body workouts that smoke you in a short period of time.
I supplement my crossfit style workouts with triathlon training, mountain biking and climbing (snow rock and Ice)
dpatton 01-23-2007, 11:46 AM What is wally ball?
Volleyball played on a Racquetball court.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallyball
I used to play a lot of volleyball, both recreational and
tournaments, and I also played in a few walleyball tournaments.
One nice thing about walleyball is that someone like me,
who is 5'10" can compete with a 6'6" former national team
volleyball player, especially if you figure out how to use the
walls before he does ;-)

Another take: Hoover Ball
Basically volleyball with a medicine ball.
Yeah, when i type to fast i tend to "won" things. Yes, i OWN a gym. Speaking of which, i need to stop drooling over the shrocks works page and go make more money to pay for the stuff. I reply to this later tonight and give some details on workouts.
RiverboyXEZ 01-23-2007, 06:57 PM When I say lower body it isn't full on lower body everyday. I guess it seemed that the way I typed it. I split between thighs, hams, calfs, that what ever muscle is in the front monday - thursday. Then upper lower body Saturday and below the knee Sunday.
Im a firm believer in the body part per day routine. If you have the time to workout 5 days a week this is perfect. It got me into shape for college sports and body building. Obviously alot opf the routines i did in college were based around olympic lifting. But i still also mixed in the body part type thing too. Its all in how much time you have to invest, what your goals are and how well your eating.
