S. 799 America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act of 2009 will close the doors on Utah recreation!

The wilderness bills keep rolling along in Washington DC. They are after 9.5 million acres in Utah and the Red Rock area this time. The Omnibus bill was not enough, so now they want to surround Moab Utah with Wilderness!
Here are the areas they are attempting to make into wilderness in this bill.

Zion and Mojave desert Wilderness area – 375,500 acres
Grand Staircase-Escalante Wilderness area – 1,729,540 acres
Moab-LA Sal Canyons Wilderness area – 296,800 acres
Henry Mountains Wilderness area – 434,300 acres
Glen Canyon Wilderness area – 902,000 acres
San Juan-Anasazi Wilderness area – 531,300 acres
Canyonlands Basin Wilderness area – 725,700 acres

Please take the time to write to your elected representatives, and tell them enough is enough! Most of these lands do not meet the original intent of the Wilderness Act of 1964 “A wilderness, in contrast with those areas where man and his own works dominate the landscape, is hereby recognized as an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain.”
If we want to have anyplace left in Utah to recreate, we need to stop this land grab again NOW!

Link to SUWA's website who is pushing hard on this bill to close of PERMANENTLY under wilderness status over 9 MILLION acres of PUBLIC LAND!!! http://www.suwa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=work_arwa

Many of Utahs citizens area tiring of the constant effort by outside entities and groups to take away and manage OUR public lands.
In response, there is a rally and parade scheduled for August 8th at the capital building to show our support and opinion concerning access to OUR PUBLIC LANDS. USA-ALL is one of the major organizers of this event. If you or your club or organization can attend. please do so. Spread the word!

http://takebackutah.org/

Take Back Utah is a coalition of different users of public land, concerned about the spread of land restrictions in Utah.

The federal government controls nearly 65 percent of the land in the state of Utah, as opposed to states like Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York or Virginia where the Federal Government controls less than 2% of the total land mass of those states.

New York State has 30,216,320 acres only 234,000 acres of federal land. One percent of the land mass is federal.
Pennsylvania has 29,475,200 acres of land and only 677,000 acres of federal land. That amounts to 2.3% of the land mass.
Illinois has 36,058,700 acres of land and only 490,300 acres of federal land or 1.4%.
Quite the contrary,
Utah has 52,696,960 acres of land, and a staggering 33,258,253 acres of federal land 63%.
Nevada has 70,264,320 acres of land, and (are you ready?) 54,159,458 acres of federal land. That is 77%.
Idaho 60%, California, 44.7% Colorado, 36% Oregon 52% Wyoming 54%.
Not only do they control the land, with the anti-development, preservationist philosophy which is Currently in vogue, there is great pressure to restrict multiple uses of public land even though “multiple use” is the theoretical underpinning of the concept of “public land”.

Take Back Utah is dedicated to reversing this trend and securing local rights, defined by federal law, and requiring the federal land agencies to honor and obey the intent of congress in the FLPMA legislation that repealed the RS2477 statute, but preserved the existing ones. To date, federal land agencies have yet to recognize one of those right of ways.
They have pushed cattlemen out of historical grazing rights, cut off access to mineral and other resource extraction, all at a cost to the well being of the nation, and to the very existence of local rural communities.
This imbalance must end. To do it you will have to become an activist. Take Back Utah urges your support.
Please lend your support, your name to the cause and your presence at our rally on August 8th. It will be a parade from the Salt Lake City and County building to the Capital. It is not the message you will hear that is important. It is the message you will deliver by being there in person. We urge your support.
The time is now, or the west will forever become unfairly subservient to the east.

Environmentalist make their cause their life. They have powerful lobbyists. Corporations donate money for fear of being branded as not caring. Politicians won't stand up against the dumb parts for fear of losing votes.

Until we all do the same we all lose every area we have.and we are way behind the curve.

I showed this to my father-in-law, who was born in Price and grew up in the south eastern part of the state. He told me that he has been camping in nearly every area mentioned. We are now planning a trip up there to try to see this stuff before they close it.

If he grew up in Price, there's a sad story for OHV's there.. The local BLM office shut down all of the local trails in/around Price. They conveniantly 'forgot' to include them on the updated RMP. Absolutely ridiculous. The local 4x4 club in the area has been awesome in working with the BLM, and this is how they got repaid. Word on the ground is that there's a BLM official trying to push his own agenda..
