So yeah, I am recovering from hip surgery number two and need some help on my X (again). I need to get my front bumper/radiator skid plate back on, I bought all new bolts and washers before surgery and now the plate has been riding shotgun. Also, my Hella 500's on my front bumper must have short or loose wire somewhere as they won't turn on. And, lastly, I installed (LOOSELY installed) my Cobra 19 Ultra II CB radio on my last trip before the operation (Boulder Creek) and need some help finishing it up. Just making the wiring look pretty and bolting it to my dash. Thanks in advance, and beer, pizza or whatever your want to whomever helps me out! I am free anytime on any day, all I do is sit at home and "recover."

P.S. - This is def just an added "maybe" but I also need to bleed my brake lines and change my diff fluids. I have access to the shop on Lackland so we can get a lift and all, I'll pay the shop fee of course, but there's only so much I can do on crutches! I have all of the fluids, too.

:laughing3: I've been to LACKLAND several times and the last time

The SR-71 in the corner parking lot (parade field) told me

-----------------------------DON'T COME BACK------------------------

So I'd be happy to help you, but "Oh Well"

LOL, thanks for all the "support" guys! And Jimbo, nice guessing on the Lackland part. They have a pretty sweet auto shop, and at only $3/hr and every tool you could need (for FREE) it's the best deal in town no doubt. And Mark, come down here and I'll be sure to do more than stub your toe with my crutches!

Hey dude, I said I would be there... If I could. I have a fall break coming up, if you want to pay for gas I will be more than happy to come give ya a hand.

I feel so bad John! Let me come over and do all your house work too!

Chase, i bet i could teach you how to use those crutches more effectivley! Its part of my job!

You're too kind, Zach! Tell ya what, I'll keep as my reserve. I have one Frontier guy who offered to help me out next week and on FJ buddy who might be able to stop by my way this Sunday on his way back from Katemcy Rocks this Sunday (my birthday actually, the big 23!) - So pissed I am missing that meet, if my surgery had happened back when it was supposed to I would be golden.

True dat, why don't we setup a video conference?! I'll tell you one thing, my shoulders and triceps are getting more than their fare share of a workout using these damned things!

I do what I can... It's cool, I wouldn't want to pay for that much gas either, just thought I would throw it out there.

Yeah, unless you plan on making a trip out of it and hitting up the coast or want to visit SA, Austin, or somewhere else I wouldn't feel as bad!

Word. Well I use iChat on my MacBook Pro fairly often and am familiar with that program. If he has a web cam I'm sure we can make it happen.

dork time, while technically I wouldn't classify web cams as video conference, that would get the job done with the same results. This actually could be used for helping each other out on our truck or showing someone how to be a better gimp.

It's gotta be tearing you up inside to have the X just sitting there, parts to install, and unable to do it. I know it would me. Am I the only one here that sits in the garage with my X admiring it? Yesterday I layed under her for half an hour looking around.

I love to help, wish I were closer!

Yesterday I layed under her for half an hour looking around.

That is mildly to moderately creepy! But I will agree with the agony of uninstalled parts.

Oh, and now I have more parts needing to get installed! Just worked a deal w/ an FJ guy to replace my front bumper 6" Hella 500's for 8" ProComp's and throwing four 6" ProComp's on the roof!

XterraS05
10-02-2008, 07:51 PM
The 100W or the 130W?

IZVERG
10-02-2008, 07:52 PM
Please, 130W of course!

Oh wait... let me explain - the 8" lights for the bumper are 130W and the 6" lights for the roof are 100W.

XterraS05
10-02-2008, 07:56 PM
I was looking at the 100W for my roof rack, but I think I might stick w/ a double set of hella 500's, since I have never seen how bright the pro comps are and Im not sure for the price if they will last all that long. You will have to let me know what ya think of them and maybe some night pics.

IZVERG
10-02-2008, 08:07 PM
I got too good of a deal on these, if they don't last then no biggie. All 6 lights for $80!

XterraS05
10-02-2008, 08:09 PM
Daaaaam n!!! 6 lights for $80. Even my broke behind would muster the scratch for a deal like that.

---UPDATE---

Sorry guys, got sidetracked this weekend by a bunch of surprises my fiance had planned for my birthday. Well the guy who I got my lights from installed them but we ran into some issues w/ the light switch. The switch I had kept blowing fuses so he wired to an extra switch he had - but it's too small and just dangles out of the hole on my dash.

Soooo, if anyone is free to help me w/ that, should just need to change the fuse under the steering column and try one of the other three switches I have, that would be GREAT! Then, I still need help putting my radiator skid plate back on, head to the Lackland auto shop to change out my front and rear diff fluids, bleed/refill my brake lines (the diff fluids and brake bleed I may just drop at my local garage and have them do it if no one is familiar on that kind of stuff. I have done my diffs before so that's no issue, just bleeding the brake lines takes two people.) Oh, and I also need help hiding the wiring from my crappy CB install job. I am willing to pay for your help, by lunch, pizza, beer, whatever! I am free ANYTIME, all I do is lay around the house all day waiting for this damn hip to heal. PM me for my cell #, directions, etc.

hmm, i might be able to help out sometime. I have a friend going to school in san antonio that i could stay with, and we could work on your X on saturday and maybe sunday if necessary. I have changed the rear diff before, and i bet the front is just as easy. I also ran my own cb so i know about that stuff. Have you tuned your antenna? I have a SWR meter if not. radiator skid should be cake. I have done a brake job before, but not on an xterra. I'll look into it and see what weekend will work.

Well I am heading to a local shop to just have him do my diff fluids and brake lines, I'm too impatient and just want the stuff done! However, there's still the matter of those lights. If anyone has a multi-meter I think that will help out a lot in diagnosing the problem or at least finding where it's grounding out.

I don't check the regional forums on the boards very often, wish I had though. I'm in the Houston area and dying to find any excuse to get the ef out of here. I'm usually off Tues - Thurs and I know your bored as hell, I could have swung up to help. Now I work this weekend and my schedule may change some next week. Wouldn't even want anything in return, just to get the hell out of this area. I'll keep my eyes posted for the next time you need help. :D

As posted over in the other thread I started about these...

Finally got these bad boys to work! Thanks to a group of guys from San Antonio Offroad (www.saoffroad.com) who had nothing better to do than help out the neighborhood cripple! And wow, what a BIG difference these are over those Hella 500's!
