: Any interest in Scepter Military Fuel Cans?
AzXMan 09-28-2008, 08:22 PM I can get a few new/unused before the idiotic C.A.R.B. mandate is inflicted on the U.S. nationwide starting in January 2009.
My beloved Wedco cans won't be available after then as well, so I'm stocking up.
Creek 09-28-2008, 08:23 PM wow...i have my share, but people should get on this!!! Great work man!
XterraS05 09-28-2008, 08:34 PM How much??? I am def interested
AzXMan 09-28-2008, 09:15 PM How much??? I am def interested
Best price I can haggle is $80 per container... which is not that bad since they are being bought at $100 each on Epray.
Before the moronic C.A.R.B. mandate goes nationwide, I'm getting 6 Wedco steel gasoline cans... (and will hope I don't dent my X loading them onto my roof rack. I already did this once... plastic cans won't do so, which is one of the reasons I semi-like Scepter).
whooda 09-28-2008, 10:27 PM what is the difference between these and the new carb complaint cans? Why are they better? Also, what is the difference between these and the wedco cans?

whooda 09-29-2008, 12:24 AM Thanks for the link old navy. For some reason I didn't see that when I did a search.
XterraVT 09-29-2008, 01:56 PM I'm interested AzX
Just let me know what's up
I'd be looking at 2 Gas and one Water. if you can find the holders as well I'd take 3.
Creek 09-29-2008, 02:11 PM you can get the holders anywhere Dave. If you can't find them, let me know
KillJoy 09-29-2008, 04:54 PM I'm interested in getting my hands on the cans of your avatar.
ok, sorry I'm done.
AzXMan 09-30-2008, 06:37 PM Sorry... kinda long reply here...
Damn CARB law is the dumbest law I've seen in some time... it mandates a completely inferior design ... but it's coming and there's no way around it.
I received a few Scepter Mil Fuel/Water cans just today that I ordered for a friend in California, and received a few Wedco cans for my own use a few days ago.
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-2/1150623/ScepterandWedcocans.jpg
I can get more of Scepter MFC in OD green with the red collar as pictured from my buddy in Winnipeg. Red and sand colored MFC are sold out. Both blue and black Scepter Mil Spec water cans are still available.
Autosport also has Scepter MFC... same price. [EDIT: While writing this thread, I added old info... check the links to see the changes.]

The only other sources I've found are in the U.K. and they, like most domestic shippers, will not sell them even before the C.A.R.B. / E.P.A. laws change. Why I don't know... even Willow fuel cans (in Australia) won't ship to the U.S.
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-2/1150623/WillowFuelCan.jpg
Wedco non-CARB cans are still available at Expedition Exchange.com - they are a great source for expedition equipment. If you like Wedco cans, get 'em while you can.
PM ME with a FIRM COMMITMENT TO PURCHASE if you want Scepter MFCs. $80.00 each and that price is only going to go up and without notice.
That's not MY price but what they are going for if you want them, while you can get them prior to 1 JAN 2009. That's a lotta cash for a fuel can... but they don't dent your truck if you bump your truck when lifting them up to the roof rack either. I have with the Wedcos.. :)
On the other hand, you can get two (2) Wedco cans for this price ($90) from EE, at least for the time being. Choose your poison but act fast while either are still available.
As far as Scepter Fuel/Water can holders go, the only source I am aware of is Adventure Trailers... at $79 a pop.
http://www.adventuretrailers.com/images/1_yellowjeep.jpg
Wedco can holders from E.E. are $75 a piece and Scepter cans DO NOT FIT a Wedco can holder (despite what anyone might tell you).
Don't forget shipping costs. Greg won't drop ship so I have to pay to have them shipped to me and then on to their final destination. In short, you pay shipping both times. That's life.

ok, sorry I'm done.
You and me both... and no need to be sorry.
AzXMan 10-02-2008, 03:59 PM Ah hel... heck... I knew it.
My email to John Lee at Expedition Exchange (good guy John...)

From: EDIT
John,
Are the Wedco non-CARB compliant fuel cans going to be unavailable for purchase after Dec 31st 2009? I've read online that CARB is going nation-wide as mandated by the U.S. E.P.A...
True or false?
Thanks.

Scepter or Wedco... order them ASAFP guys.
AzXMan 10-05-2008, 12:45 AM Okay... received no PM's regarding reserving Scepter Mil Spec fuel cans... so I'll email my buddy and tell him to release the 15 cans I asked him to reserve.
Final order of Wedco non-CARB cans (for my own use) are being shipped.
Get these fuel cans while you can guys... the CARB-compliant cans suck.
Creek 10-06-2008, 02:08 PM wow...what's wrong with you people? You all missed out on one hell of an opportunity which I highly doubt you will EVER see again.
XterraVT 10-10-2008, 05:42 PM GREAT NEWS PEOPLE!!!
I found a source for New Scepter cans and they will ship anywhere in the US.
Dave's Surplus & Tactical www.dstactical.com
I ordered 3 fuel and 1 Water and a pour spout
They will be shipped out on Tuesday as Monday is Canadian Thanks Giving.
These cans are their HOTTEST sellers right now and they just got another shipment in today. Most of these cans are being purchased my US customers.
Get them while you can
XVTer 10-10-2008, 06:24 PM Good find dave, I just ordered some of the NATO ones
XterraVT 10-11-2008, 05:07 PM My cans shipped out yesterday from www.DSTactical.com via FedEx.
Should be here next week.
Like AzXMan said before Get these cans while you can before the CARB Reg goes into effect in 09.
Fuel cans are $59.99
Water cans are $34.99
Pour spouts are $27.99
I may just order a few more of these things to have kicking around.
what is the difference between these and the new carb complaint cans? Why are they better? Also, what is the difference between these and the wedco cans?
anything that is carb compliant leaks. Ironic isn't it. The only ones I found to not leak are the WEDCO cans based on the WW2 Jerry Cans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_can).
And when I say they don't leak I mean if you hang them upside down they don't leak.
A LOT of other brands leak even if you just lay them on their side - as you would if they were on your roof. On an Xterra that's about the only place to put them unless you customize your swing-a-way rear bumper.
Ive seen the scepter cans leak too.

OZ: Agreed - even Scepter cans can leak...(to be fair if you REALLY CRANK TIGHT the cap, they are the best of the plastic cans... and they don't dent your truck if you lightly ding it with one) but the single BEST, NON-LEAK can is the Wedco - hands down. I've stood a Wedco water can upside down for 14 hours and lost not a drop.
That said, I'm laying in a big supply of BOTH before CARB goes nationwide in January.
I'm a fan of the Wedco fuel/water cans, but am getting a dozen Scepter cans for some Scepter using friends that haven't the foresight to get them while they can... and I'm halfway there. Oh, don't forget to obtain replacement gaskets, caps, pouring spouts etc etc etc because these might well become impossible to get after 1 January 2009

Why were you standing upside down on that can for 14 hours?!?
Xaddict 10-12-2008, 03:30 PM Not to hijack this thread or anything, but are these any good?
http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/View_Catalog_Page.asp?mi=6301
I also need to get some cans before this goes into effect, and just wonder what the viable options are.
but are these any good?

I would bet they leak
XterraPA 10-12-2008, 03:52 PM Blitz® cans are good, especially if their CARB certified. Schlitzy has one and it is a quality product and won't leak. It is all metal and could probably take a beating.
Xaddict 10-12-2008, 06:30 PM They had both the CARB and Non-CARB Metal cans there. I was just asking if anyone knew anything about those ones in particular.
And I would prefer to buy Wedco also, but it is very, very hard to find any in stock anywhere.
AzXMan 10-14-2008, 11:14 AM Xaddict: Nearly every Blitz can I've seen in use has leaked. Now, I'm not saying they all do, (some guys really like them) just that this has been my experience with them.
If you like metal fuel cans, get the non-CARB Wedco cans from Expedition Exchange. They are the best metal cans available (until 1 JAN 2009.
CoastalDefender 12-22-2008, 05:08 PM Someone have a link to the CARB law going into effect in a few days?

I am meaning where it says it's illegal on 01-01-09 Nationwide. I want to see the bill that passed Congress and which the President signed that now makes it illegal to sell Non-CARB compliant cans to us Serfs.
ARead 12-23-2008, 02:36 PM I would bet they leak
Like a sieve. I have 3 of them and they look cool and hold gas well, but putting gas in the car requires another gas can.
XVTer 12-23-2008, 02:40 PM I have one of those blitz cans as well; the one with the C.A.R.B compliant spout; the thing sucks. I'd invest in the metal spout if you're going that route
AzXman... Do you have any of the Scepter cans left?
AzXMan 01-15-2009, 03:10 PM I released the 15 Scepter mil spec fuel cans I had reserved as mentioned in my post of 10.04.2008 because no one PM'ed me with an expression of their interest.
Before the CARB law went nationwide in the U.S. on 1 Jan 2009, I sorta rethought things and placed a VERY LARGE order of BOTH Scepter mil spec fuel cans and Wedco non-CARB fuel cans. All fuel containers have arrived and are kept inside my house in an empty bedroom so the seals don't dry out as they would in my garage.
Hopefully you bought a bunch of either of these cans because their prices will double in the months to come.

Right, so i guess my question is, what are your plans with ones that you stocked up with?

Aside from the stock I will keep for my own use, I always run a "drunken auction" after one of my guided hunts... and mil spec fuel cans (Wedco and Scepter) are expected to be a "hot item" in days/months to come. In essence, they will be bought by guys that spent some serious coin... and AFTER the bottles of Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey are empty.
I might be able to find a few Scepter cans at a reasonable price... but chances are good I might not be able to. If you PM me, I'll try.

I would guess, he'll wait until those cans are worth more then their weight in gold, then sell them one-by-one for a pretty profit.

Old Navy: Brother, you make me sound like a pirate... rather than the guy that originated this thread with the warning of "buy now... while you still can.... at reasonable prices".
I'm not selling my Scepter/Wedco mil spec fuel cans... its far more cash productive to give them away.

rinontherox 09-19-2009, 09:18 AM I'm going to try out visiting my mom this weekend and I was wondering if purchasing a new no-spill fuel can (http://www.thehardwarecity.com/?sku=3314523) is good enough for a 5-mile travel.
The king of all ryans 12-22-2009, 03:08 AM Yeah, I have a supplyer for these now... Get them while you can... He still has a few if anyone wants any...
