same here but i think they would need them because its not a common off the shelf blank
honestly they may only need one just to gets all the specs off of then who ever is interested in buying them just has to give the lengths they need

Definitely interested in this. Have no contacts with anyone but I've pissed away enough money on the truck to throw down some more.

The carrier design changed post '07 to go to the 4 spider gears, but did the axle shafts change? All the Frontier/Xterra M226's are 32 spline, so I would imagine that as long as you have an M226 with the E-locker, that the shafts would all be the same.

Somewhere I found the spline count went up on the newer ones. Something about the same locker as the Titan and they went from 32 to 35 spline. Of course I can't find the source of that spec of info now that I am looking for it.

Was I the only one who was sobor and paying attention in college?

The TSB on axle service, NTB10-008_REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS, lists one interchangeable axle for both sides for non-locking M226, and a left and right for locking M226 rear assemblies. All years are the same for the axles.

It'd be safest to send the axles in, the manufacturer can measure all necessary dimensions.

Yukon might be the way to go. They have a limited liftetime no questions asked warranty on the cromo axle shafts they currently make.

OK, so what does one need to do here? Call up one of these companies and see if they'd be interested in making us some chromoly axles? If they are, we get some money together, send the bread to Penski and he ships them to said company for R&D and hopefully production?

32 spline chromoly axle shafts with an ARB locker (or a grizzly locker) would make these axles pretty damn stout I should think.

you will have more of a chance getting these made thru a custom shop , trying to go thru yukon would be a mess i think because they would want minimum orders and deposits

also there may a chance if the titan now has a 35 spline arb to upgrade to chromoly axles in 35 spline and get the titan arb in 35 spline then you would have a pretty stong axle

Quite a few years ago Mark Williams made custom axles, duplicates of an Olds axle. I sent the old axle to them and they made two at their advertised price for custom axles. I don't think there was a charge for meassuring the old axle, but I don't remember for sure. They didn't care if it for for 1 or 10, the price was the same. Their policy may be different now.

If somebody wants a set made, make some phone calls to companies that advertise custom axles.

Didn't someone on this site go through superior and have custom axle shafts made with a titan bolt pattern. It could have been a Ford 9 was install and had shafts made with a 6 on 5.5 by pattern. Can't remember for sure.

a note Ive done for years on axles is to run a paint pencil down the length(clean well first) this lets you visually see if the axle ever twists. Many times Ive seen twisted axles this way on drags cars. We may not run slicks and have wheels up launches, but we can shock them hard enough to twist and snap em. Also lets you know you have an issue when you may not know it
